For those in Oz with a penchant for folk-horror, I noticed last night that SBS On Demand currently has the classic 1973 original of 'The Wicker Man' available.

It expires a month from now, so be sure to take a trip to Summerisle before then, otherwise their apple crops may fail once more... 😉

Columbia University president hit with no-confidence vote from faculty group over handling of pro-Palestinian campus protests

Pro-Palestinian encampments have been cleared from more US college campuses as school officials have called in law enforcement in recent weeks to quell mounting demonstrations over the institutions’ ties to Israel amid its military action in Gaza. Here are the latest developments:...

Foodfight (2012)

Describing the film as "one of those fall-of-civilization moments", Nathan Rabin of The A.V. Club wrote..."the grotesque ugliness of the animation alone would be a deal-breaker even if the film weren't also glaringly inappropriate in its sexuality, nightmare-inducing in its animation, and filled with Nazi overtones and iconography even more egregiously unfit for children than the script's wall-to-wall gauntlet of crude double entendres and weird intimations of inter-species sex

"Gollum. He's tracked us since Moria. I had hoped we'd lose him on the river, but he's too clever a waterman".

"And if he alerts the enemy to our whereabouts, it'll make the crossing even more dangerous".

All shot practically using real figures, foil for water, cotton wool for clouds, rocks from the garden for mountains, a real bit of tree bark for the log and a couple of bookends.

Saw THE BEEKEEPER (2024) last night. I, of course, loved this movie. I will watch anything with Jason Statham (I'm not the only one as it turned out after the movie was over last night. 😆).

I also got a kick out of the movie as a medievalist. Apparently, there is a secret society of assassins called Beekeepers, who protect human civilization based on the idea that it is like a beehive.

I just saw "Matrix 5" is in the works. When will Hollywood start producing new content instead of rebooting, remaking, or putting out the 5-10th installment of existing movies over and over again. Same goes for TV IMO.

I'm reminded of a bit from "The Simpsons" about Charles Bronson in "Death Wish 9."

This Sunday at 9pm eastern #MONSTERDON returns once more! This week we're giving ol' Roger Corman a salute, since he shuffled off to that great box office in the sky recently. Meaning we'll be watching THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961), which also features Vincent Price :D

The flick's free with commercials on Tubi, or you can download in advance from Archive.org right over here: https://archive.org/details/pit-and-the-pendulum

See you on Sunday!

Any sci-fi trying to do something different gets my attention. Francis Ford Coppola self-financing his story for sure gets my attention.

I'm intrigued.
