requiring platforms to do a 100 point ID check is so fucking stupid with so many obvious risks and consequences, it’s infuriating to be here again. there are pressing issues in tech that require meaningful political attention. this is at best a distraction and at worst actively harmful. shit for brains tech policy ideas everywhere smdh

Does anyone have a spare Lenovo charger (one of the rectangular proprietary ones) that they can donate to Computers for a Cause? I've had a perfectly good laptop donated without a charger.

This is a remarkable graph.

You might have heard that "EV sales are slumping", "people are starting to avoid EVs", etc.

That's not what's happening.

What's happening is "Tesla is cratering so hard that it's skewing the aggregate market data."

A farmer from New South Wales recently visited Japan and discovered that Australian was being sold in Tokyo for less than it costs in major Australian supermarkets. Analysts argue that direct comparisons can be "misleading" without accounting for factors such as global import competition, differences in meat cuts, and exchange rate fluctuations. Although and have denied allegations of price gouging, the is set to release an interim report on its inquiry into supermarkets by August.

Western Australia has tabled a bill that - if passed - would finally establish a privacy framework in the state. It also could lead the nation on on privacy rights. This set was notably used in the hit Japanese TV series Alice in Borderland.

Australia's privacy watchdog won't investigate TikTok after failing to find evidence showing a "clear and obvious" breach of the Privacy Act, adding the law "urgently" needs reform.

The privacy commissioner also seems to suggest TikTok's tracking isn't out of line with other social media platforms

I wonder what impact changes to Google's algorithm will have on cultural institutions with KPIs based on web visits.

I remember when I was manager of Trove in 2014 or so we had a drop in traffic that coincided with Google changes. Had to include a note in the annual report along the lines of 'Google did something'...
