For anyone unaware, Google Chrome is currently rolling out an update that track your interests based on browsing history, then share them with 3rd party websites. The notification page makes it sound like they added a new privacy feature, but in actuality they automatically enrolled you into their tracking system and you have to go and manually opt out.

@publicvoit I dunno man, guess I was just complaining for the sake of it - tell you what though, I found a config script called easymacs

and if it works as advertised i might just switch to emacs for good

My main issue with usability on emacs is the default key bindings, since I have the fixation for a really software-agnostic setup (i change stuff around a lot) I usually want to keep it as close to my workflow as can be, and a whole new set of keybindings doesn't help

If I may, having looked around, i've also noticed pleroma seems to be the better alternative, especially when discussing "leaner" setups. Do you have any experience running pleroma or any more general tips?

@michael apparently pleroma also allows post migration from mastodon but it doesn't show the option so it has to be done manually.
Aaaand.... since i could use a "leaner" setup, and i like fiddling with stuff to get it working, i might have just found a new home in pleroma.

I didn't agree to see ads, although I'm ok with some ads; what I definitely didn't do is agree to be tracked and profiled and have arbitrary third-party code running on my computer just so I could read this awful, pointless, SEO-ified shitfest of an article that doesn't come close to answering the question I was googling.

@maxleibman ads should be in the 'ad' portion of the page, not a constantly moving box that goes under your cursor so you may click on it at any fucking time and have your whole life basically decided for you by megacorpos through targeted advertising or whatever fancy word they make up for what is essentially a corporate induced psyop

    I’ve decided to put travels that happened mostly within an city with city transportation (bus, metro, tram, etc.) as part of the same trip into one post! If such a thing is documented, then my description of what happened on that trip will occur in that post, not the post about the way back as was the case previously.
