    @billyjoebowers @flockofnazguls I've been using MX-based AV Linux, installed on an 8 year old MacBook Air.

    It's kind of awesome, but it leaves something to be desired. But I've been out of the Linux game for too long, so it's hard for me to elaborate.

    Generative "music" for #genuary31 features the Langton's Ant from my "Grow a seed" #GenerativeArt continuously modifying a drum pattern sent as #MIDI notes to the Korg Volca Beats. The wobbly functions from another previous #genuary prompt control the pitch of arpeggiated tones synthesized using the #Processing Sound library which I never used before.

    Perhaps a bit too chaotic for #jamuary

    A coloured 10x16 grid of tiles is modified by a Langton ant. One row is highlighted and advances downwards each step. One tile colour is brighter than the others which determines the MIDI pattern to send to a Korg Volca Beats which emits percussion sounds. A white comet traces a curvy path to the right of the tile grid. An arpeggio of tones vary in pitch according to the movement of the comet.

    Has anyone done events, like calendar events, on Activity Pub?

    Basically just use the protocol to broadcast .ics events or whatever is the most reasonable format?

    It'd beat bandsintown.com and could actually compete with Facebook's chokehold on event stuff!

    Are there good cli client audio players? Like something that I could run a command, point to a directory, and it would play the music displaying track Metadata and maybe an FFT / ascii art visual?

    Something that would make me look like a cool hacker DJ.

    Doing a big clean out and final sweeping and vacuum of today, and moving in instruments and equipment tonight.

    I've spent over 2 years learning how to do carpentry, roofing, and how to use tools and get things done.

    I'm not certain I'd ever used any kind of powered saw before I started this project. So I'm really friggin excited.

    Tonight I went to a rock show for the first time in what feels like years. There were three bands billed. It was kind of a reunion show for a couple of local bands. They hadn't performed together for nearly a decade.

    Goddamn, music is powerful. I'll be 35 next week, but tonight I felt like I was 19. But just the good parts of 19.

    @flockofnazguls ive been using MX Linux too (a flavor called AV Linux). I'm going to migrate off of it, it's been impossible to change my window manager, and I've spent hours tweaking things.

    I figured thered be a command flag to relog with a different WM, but I'm pretty sure some system settings are getting overwritten.

    I just came to the conclusion that AV linux was already too precustomized for my liking!

    The expression "the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing"

    A large corporation is like a millipede, and none of the legs know what the other ones are doing.

    Many legs work in opposition to eachother, a few are doing it on purpose. Some legs haven't moved in weeks and may be broken. Two are actively trying to smother eachother. Three are blind drunk.

    The rest of the legs are all trying to walk in different directions.

    Who came up with the term "slut-shaming"? The word "slut" is kind of derogatory, isn't it? So it's like saying "shameful-sex-haver shaming"

    IDK. But if I saw a group of people sunbathing and referred to them as "sun sluts", I think people would be offended.

    I think I want to name a band "Sunslut"
