With three and a half days left of voting in #Fedivision2024, don’t forget to vote for your 1 to 3 favourite entries, using the four-letter codes displayed next to them. Visit http://fedivision.party/vote for instructions and an example! Voting closes UTC 19.00 on Sunday 26 May 2024.
FYI no streaming service pays more than US $0.01 per stream. And that’s at the very top end, with a premium paying customer in a premium market.
I found this article explaining how streams are calculated helpful: https://soundcharts.com/blog/music-streaming-rates-payouts
Lots of variables like country, service tier, content pool & user engagement factor in, making the "average" per stream unpredictable.
Tidal & Qobuz pay more per stream b/c they have less streams overall--making every stream more valuable. 1/

Reviewing #Fedivision is daunting, an endeavour that’s taking days, but it’s really satisfying to listen carefully to each song and write something about it.
I’m enjoying everyone’s posts on the various #Fedivision entries. I wish I had the spoons to post about every entry, but maybe nobody wants my asshole opinions anyway. Especially since I have no skin in the game. I couldn’t even get it together in time to enter. :AAAAAA:
Have you listened to the entries for the #Fedivision contest yet? There are 72 entries this year, lots of talented Fediverse musicians to discover and follow, and lots of new music to enjoy!
I’m struggling to find words to say about all the tracks, as there are so many, all good in their own way - so how about a #Fedivision2024 quiz? All the answers can be found on the main #Fedivision page here: https://fedivision.party/
Some of the questions have more than one correct answer.
I’ll provide my answers when the voting has closed on Sunday.
If you want to answer in the replies - PLEASE use a content warning/wrapper so as not to spoil everyone else’s fun!
I’ve written something for 21 #fedivision songs so far. See my pinned thread. That’s about a third of them. Check them all out at https://fedivision.party/ and enjoy #fedivision2024 week. I’ll endeavour to write something for each of them, but right now it’s 2am so I’m going 💤
@stephan [RAIL] @announce Was funny yesterday. I start listening the music from #fedivision2024 and instantly know while listening who composed this song, so StephanStyle.💓

I’ve listened to every song in #Fedivision at least four times. So many great tunes to choose from. My short-list got down to ten songs and I would have loved to have enough votes for all of them. I have picked three and put my votes in. I didn’t vote for my own entry because then I would really only be voting for two songs, so my three votes went out to other entries. Best of luck to everyone who entered and thank you to everyone else who listened, got hyped, and votes in #Fedivision2024, and of course a huge dose of gratitude to everyone involved in organising and running the event.
Big love to you all!!

It is absolutely and utterly cruel to pick only three out of so many winners I'd put on rotation if I (in an alternate universe) hosted an All Fediverse Music-type radio show.
I listened to every single one #NoLie and while there are standouts, I am in absolute awe of every single one of y'all that made it to this round. Good luck / buena suerte / bon chance / がんばれ to everyone and thank you for sharing your art!
Really appreciate how evocative @bittersweetdb track, "In the Wind" is for #Fedivision2024. It's got a kind of ethereal Mad Max vibe, with the otherwordly womp-y droning bass drum and trance-like vocals. Well done!
For those trying to work out the puzzle in CONF, there are 3 pianos: one that plays through the entire song, one that plays in bits and pieces, and one that starts a few measures in and plays until the end of the song. The encoded message is buried in the third one.
