Taking advantage that I'm in my hometown, a friend asked me to help her paint her son's room and I told her that I would do it but that I wasn't going to get clothes dirty so I would do it naked. We both won, she with a painted room and I'm happy to be naked 🤭

Robert Helpmann's depiction of the child catcher in the film Chitty Chatty Bang Bang was brilliant but chilling. As a young boy, this guy was the most frightening person I had ever seen. I'm interested to see the first film or tv characters that frightened others as a child.

@BOPBadger for me it was, and remains Daleks. I would love to be able to watch Dr Who, but I saw Daleks when I was only 5 (probably on a 20-inch B&W TV), and I’ve been scarred for life!

@paul @rolle I don’t get it either. Paul, you might recall the Internet before AOL. Then one day AOL enabled the Internet for all its subscribers, and Usenet and email usage exploded. I think we need a similar event for the fediverse - like having an ActivityPub client built into a browser or something…

Day 24 of the NTC September Challenge: Sunburnt

Bryan burns easily and quickly. There is simply no tanning, except perhaps over the course of a whole season. His go-to remedy is Aloe Vera, which he buys in tubes from the pharmacy. Betty believes that only fresh Aloe Vera leaves work, and so, she frequently throws out his tubes.

I forgot to post yesterday's NTC September Challenge here, so here's a two-fer!

For "Wearing too much jewelry:" I searched for inspiration that wasn't Mr T. For women, it seems there is no such thing as too much jewelry. However, there is "lots of jewelry," and that mostly leads to Indian women. So here is Betty paying homage to the many photos of beautiful dancers I found on the net.

For "With a new hairstyle" In his thirties, Bryan noticed that the hair that had hitherto formed a robust cover for his head had migrated down his body. Remembering Betty and her friends talking about "back pelts" he took to shaving his back, but then where do you stop? Do you come right over the shoulders? How about the butt. Ordinarily, Bryan keeps it all trimmed, with the exception of three hairs on his chest that defy the razor.
Actually, I'm just too lazy to draw all that hair. You're welcome.

Bryan played clarinet through high school, but then life got busy. He still picks it up occasionally for a little toodle, but his lips and his diaphragm aren't what they were. Somehow his fingers remember where to go, though.

September 12th on the Nude Toon Challenge. The prompt is Swimming.

Betty loves swimming, especially when there are waves!

In some ways this is the image that got me into drawing figures. I was on Black Sand Beach in Hawaii, and there were big waves crashing in. I felt I needed to paint that moment where waves were crashing over our bodies.

Betty pretty much only does the 2-step shuffle, and Bryan is too embarrassing to draw dancing. However, Betty also does Zoomba lessons at the local rec centre; she wishes those were nude, but alas, no.

Day seven of the NTC September Challenge: Carrying a lot of stuff.

Betty would have been fine if she'd stuck to the plan: two Bavarian Smokies, a coke, a bottle of water and two packs of chips. But it's really sunny on the beach today, and she thought maybe Bryan is getting a little red, so she rented an umbrella. Then she was tempted by the potato wedges. To top it all off, there was change! What to do with that? I think she'll make it back to their blanket, but she probably should have made two trips.
