Ephera, to rust in I built a CLI tool in Rust that allows you to manage files as if you're playing a text adventure.

Hmm, interesting concept. The mv command often felt a bit too much like I need to know what I’m doing (need to already have the target folder structure created and roughly remember what it looks like).

This feels more like a GUI file manager where you cut selected files to put them into the clipboard, then you go to your target directory to set up the folder structure you want to paste your files into.

Don’t really know yet, if it’s needed, but what could be cool, is if it showed where you picked a file up from. Maybe even a way to try to automatically “put it back” (assuming the path still exists).

nixgoat,

Thank you for the ideas! It actually sounds really good to me and in fact the original concept for this did show you where you picked a file up from. Might plan for a new version then.

nixgoat,

I’ve implemented the ideas you suggested! Hope you enjoy!

Can i see an example instance?

indieterminacy,

This was mentioned: https://comam.es/snac/grunfink

It operates off version 2.28 from the minimalist file

Would SNAC be an easy to self-host instance, to replace the need for the twitter API ?

Invidious?

loki,

Invidious is an open-source alternative front-end for YouTube. It allows users to watch YouTube videos anonymously, without creating a YouTube account and without tracking of their viewing history.

Makan,

Great. Link?

loki,

this is an instance. https://invidious.kavin.rocks/

mind you, the project is dead and the instances may soon follow.

Makan,

Yeah, found out yesterday.

Apparently ActivityPub has very solid support on PHP. Couldn't find anything on other languages tho.

Not great that this requires a new account on a service most people won't already have :( I tried logging in with GitHub and it did that thing that I really hate federated logins doing where they go "yeah go ahead log in with your credentials from another site SIKE YOU HAVE TO TELL US YOUR EMAIL ANYWAY"
