So many rad ways to get around.

A brand new MUNI bus that is totally battery powered. This replaces some of the older gas powered buses. It is grey and red with an electric lot painted on the side. It is at Cesar Chavez and Valencia.
A photo I took while riding my bicycle down the bike lane on Valencia St. The lane is in the center of the road and you can see 7 other cyclists coming and going down the lane, with a few cars on either side. The weather looks warm, everyone is in shorts, and the sky is blue. A nice slice of city life.

@futurebird yo, I love my AirPods so much. They are fantastic! But there are times, many times, I wish I could use something else. Sometimes it’s because of connectivity issues, sometimes it’s because my AirPods are low on juice, sometimes it’s because I want to use a nicer pair of headphones in my collection that aren’t Bluetooth. So no hate on my AirPods, I just hate that Apple took away the option.

@AnneMacro @futurebird audio sounded fine through the adapter. The problem was that I’d rarely have the adapter with me when I wanted to switch to a pair of wired headphones. Dongles are fine, when you remember to pack them.

@phi1997 when Apple ditched the headphone, I was totally ready to switch to Android. Particularly the Pixel line, which my partner loves, but then Google removed headphone jacks from Pixels too. Seems like a huge mistake for Google, because they could have siphoned off a lot of Apple's user base.

Steve Albini had a huge influence on me in my teens. Not just the records he produced, but also his strong opinions on art, DIY ethos, and fighting corporate culture.

Luckily, I didn't see the edgelord shit he was writing back in the 90s, because that probably would have influenced me too.

Having fun with my PLTPS

Me using a yo-yo in my living room. I’m doing tricks with a slim green yo-yo and a counterweight. The music is a logo hip hop beat by The Heavy Twelves.

@exkclamation that move is called a freegen. I loved it the first time I saw it (15 years ago), but never mastered it because it's too unpredictable (and kind of scary). You basically tug the yo-yo up, let go of the counterweight, let the yo-yo wind up then unwind, and catch the counterweight again.

@DemocracySpot 5A (aka "freehand") style of yo-yoing is performed with a counterweight on the end of the string. Since you aren't attached the yo-yo, you can transfer which hand is holding the counterweight or let go completely. I love this style of play.

In the spring of 2024, a local comic shop asked Doctor Popular to illustrate a promotional t-shirt for an upcoming fundraiser. The original design, "Batman Devouring His Young", was rejected by the comic shop upon review.

Jay-Z's "My First Song" is in 3/4, right?

Jay's flow is in triplets, but when I try to count the beat I feel a 4/4 sometimes and a 3/4 others.

Like @SallyStrange said, 99.9% of hip hop is in 4/4. When folks deviate from that, it's often by just dropping in an extra beat. Or in the case of Outcast's "Hey Ya", adding a 2/4 every now and then.

@tillybridges what a surprise to hear Kraig on there too. I started The SF Cartoonist Conspiracy about 20 years ago and Kraig was one of our regulars. I miss hanging out with that crew, but glad to see some of the folks are still actively making comics.
