@nogajun@franklin thank you. And do you think the literal translation "Phonetic reading" is the most suitable name to describe the field in English? Or do you think there's a better option?
I assume the best string is the one that will be interpreted correctly when translating from English to e.g. Japanese (or any other language for which that feature is useful).
Wikipedia Furigana page says "Japanese pronunciation". However, it is not a Japanese-only feature, so it is just pronunciation.
Japanese users may feel a little uncomfortable with it, but it is not significantly different. And it should work for Chinese pinyin and bopomofo. However, Chinese users are unlikely to reorder with it. 😅
holiday weekend, and I already knocked out the (very smol) work I'd promised to do, so now I can relax the rest of the day (already relaxed yesterday).
Excellent day yesterday, along with a nommy sushi dinner to wrap it up.
Made it to level 25 in Wanikani! #japanese Now manga is waiting for me, and google translate is helping a LOT. 😁
@TonyStark Hey there, I hope you are taking time to breathe and take care of yourself! I saw this on someone else's timeline and thought the absurdity reflects the kind of situation we find ourselves in-- 😜
I don't see the hashtag anymore, but it's #JMusicFriday. And I wanted to remind everyone that BanG Dream: It's MyGO!!!!! was really bloody good actually.
Today I learned the #Japanese equivalent of the #English phrase 'Food Porn' is '飯テロ' or 'Meshi Tero', where the 'tero' part is a borrow word for 'terrorism'.
The literal translation is 'Food Terrorism'. Consider that in relation to the Japanese penchant for filling their #SocialMedia streams with pictures of every single thing they eat.
Alors ça non plus, je ne sais pas trop dans quel contexte ça a du sens. Ça doit être plutôt rare quand même… en tout cas, je me suis pas sûr que ça me servir sur place 😅 #japonais#nihongo#DuoLingo
I learned a character in #japanese the other day that was defined as amount; or picture frame. 🤬
I was swearing at that--how can one word have meanings that dissimilar? How can I remember that?
But then today walking in the city I passed the Latitude nightclub. I'd seen that in other cities-- it is a good name for a nightclub, in the sense of permission to bend the rules a bit.
Or a line in the map marking distance from the equator.
A mysterious tattoo artist puts his masterpiece, a human-faced spider, on a kidnapped woman’s back. She and her lover are then forced into a conspiracy-born nightmare... #japanese#cinema#film#japan#cinemastodon#movies
I believe this was my first Masumura. Japanese conditions were so tough these directors had to do 3 films every year.
scenario adapted from Tanizaki written by the great Kaneto Shindo.
