Immich looks like a great self-hosted alternative to Google photos, and similar look, which I like since GPhotos one is actually nice. https://immich.app/

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@djlink Very interesting. I'm reading in its comments 'Only thing missing to me is a photo editor that lets me crop, rotate, and adjust saturation, brightness, highlights, etc', and it's something I couldn't find also on my actual alternative (Nextcloud+Gallery F-Droid on mobile). I hope these apps will get a basic editor soon. For members of my home, it was hard to convince at the time to get out the Google Photo system because of this feature missing. Years later, it is still absent...

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@Olomorn @djlink Hey, yes. That's what I use. It's also the only sane option that triage photo via exif date (and I have hundreds of Giga of family photos going to 1900). Yes, the small editor is on the Nextcloud app.
Unfortunately, on the mobile side, the Memories client use the Nextcloud sync app. It's not a 2 way sync (if my wife edit one of our photos, it's not sync back on my phone).
But good point for the Memories Nextcloud app: it retains the exif after edition, and date editor is good.

@molly0xfff A valid wish.

Here is a chaotic evil way to "solve" it 😺

@Mensogo Hey, that's right. I always had my heart for copyleft licenses; but I decided for Pepper&Carrot to use the CCby for various reasons. The switch for CCBySa and reasons on MiniFantasyTheater will be the topic of a blog post; I need more text to detail the multifactor reasons and report the issues I had with CCBy on 10 years of Pepper&Carrot and what I'll try to avoid this time.

@davidrevoy I was browsing the App Store on my iPad when I saw this picture. Didn't expect to see Pepper pop-up as promotion for an Arabic learning app. Do you know the origin of the drawing, or is it original?

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@herobrine7gamer 😮 First time I see this derivation drawing of Pepper. If they reuse the Arabic translation of Pepper&Carrot, I hope they credits the translators: they are doing an incredible work (and with the Right to Left text in Inkscape, it wasn't easy).

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@herobrine7gamer Thank you for the contribution to the translation, and sorry for not recognizing your nickname. Ok, I see, it's only their app icon. Maybe someone who started a fan-art and then repurposed it for this app. Weird derivation :blobnomcookie: I'll probably take no action to get a credit on this one or having it to mention Pepper&Carrot: I'm not sure there is any value in doing that for the project. But it is still funny and surprising to see a Pepper I haven't drawn in the wild ☺️

@wilbr Thank you! And that's perfect condition to do the beta testing of the font. Comic should be all pre-coffee certified 😺

@BiggestBulb Thank you for the feedback!

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@AxelStieglbauer Thank you for the feedback! yes, I think I'll have to pick the best attribute here and there, probably building on the top of Patrick Hand(1), I start to have feedback this one is the easier to read (many scaling, screen size, jpg compression of various Fediverse clients, this is a cool indicator that author of PatrickHand made something effective.

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@AAMfP 🧐 🙂 Thank you for the feedback!

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@norihiori Thank you for the feedback! Also, it's rare Kalam got supporters in the replies of this test, it feels problematic at multiple levels (even one technical with the slight italic built-in of the font making antialiasing issues when reduced at low size with heavy JPG compression.). PatrickHand got a larger consensus.

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@allpurposemat Thank you for the feedback and the screenshot; it's especially precious for me to see the rounded corners and the overlay of icons (the eyes/Alt position), this way I'll build safe guidelines on where to statistically not put important elements or future texts.👍

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@Garonenur Thank you for sharing your feedback. The 18px one is indeed PatrickHand, and it received the largest amount of positive feedback. I'll move on this one, and tweak it a bit. I can't wait to share a next test 😊

davidrevoy,
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org avatar

@lord_tacitus Thank you for the feedback! Yes, Fedilab and Tusky reported to be of very good quality on my replies about displaying the attached square picture large enough in the TL and without cropping them or showing it as a 16:9 thumbnail. It's cool for posting webcomics!

davidrevoy,

@loaExMachina Merci pour le retour ! Ha oui les pavés, c'est problématique. Hier, j'ai déterminé dans des tests que les bulles de 130 caractères prenaient 1/2 de la case. Va falloir que je reste concis en écriture de dialogues.

@odysseywestra Thank you so much for your words, and also for supporting my work since the start of Pepper&Carrot, 10 years ago. 10 years soon! I can't believe it myself.
Right now it looks my brain wants to start Mini Fantasy Theater and ending Pepper&Carrot simultaneously. I jump on one when I block on the other, and ideas rejected for one feed the other. An interesting period of overlap. 😆
