@Rasta One of my old beloved cats allowed me to hold him while he passed. Although I was heartbroken to lose him I felt privileged to help him through his transition.

@Barbramon1 thank you. Even though we were there, comforting her to the end, we all knew the end result.
She picked a good time, we've been expecting to bury her for a year. We're weeks away from leaving this location, and would have had to return, to break frozen soil.
Huge condolences...so very, very sad, but it seems her time has come 💔💔💔
Here I am in Cardiff, crying for a Canadian cat and her parents who I've never met, but we've been in a similar situation with our dogs many times and know the pain only too well 😭😭😭

It doesn’t get easier, no matter how many times we have to let a loved pet go. But at least she went peacefully, with you there loving her.

@Rasta I'm so sorry, Rasta. Even though it was expected it still hurts. Take time to grieve and take comfort in the fact that she was surrounded by love. RIP, Maya.
@Rasta She's doing pretty well. We've combined 2 households into one here now. That means there are 4 cats. One, Angel, is older, and really just sleeps most of the day, but her and another, Cali, are kinda pissy. Don't want any other cats near them.
But Kati has made a great friend in the male,Max. They tear through the house chasing each other like cats out of hell!

It's a fine age for a cat and I guess she had a fabulous life with you. She wasn't alone and she could sleep out in peace not in fear.
The old alikatze has a grave in my parents garden like you described. We wanted to give her a nice place to stay.
When my dad digged the grave, he went away to get Ali. When he came back, an unknown cat sat besides the grave, not moving.

I know. We had 3 pass away in 2020 during COVID. I almost got into a fist fight at the vet because they didn't want me coming in with my pets. I was pissed and upset, it's not a good combo for me.
@Uncleharvey@purplepadma we had a massive Maine Coon cat, that raised her , since she was a few weeks' old. We took his loss badly also. They were part of the family for so long, you really feel the emptiness

I hope shes not a fighter like my little black feral I lost in April. Chaka was 20yo. We thought she was passing on a Sat but then rallied for a day. We took her to the vet that Monday, she was ready and it was peaceful.
@inkstainedmags she isn't well enough to eat, even though we opened tuna for her, so we gave her a bowl of the juice. Had to hold her head up so she wouldn't drown in it.
I didn't have any lobster for her 😎
@Judeet88 thanks, we got 16 out of our last cat, and 15 the cat before. She's the weakest of the rescues, a feral kitten, a touch of feral forever, but spoiled to the teeth. She wants for nothing. We're just helpless to do anything now
@heinragas I think I was crazy to let another into our home, as the two boys will surely outlive us.
This little girl was special from the start, an abandoned feral kitten, barely eyes open, fleas, mites, worms.. a 25 pound Male Maine Coon cat (Buddy) raised her.
She never wanted to go outside, she remembered those conditions.
Spoiled, she became an Alpha cat when Buddy died.
The boys will have to Duke it out to see who eats first now.
There's going to be sad moments for awhile.
@commonst she's been sick for awhile. I had to kennel her last winter, she loses bodily function and messes the house. Then she sprung back to life, even running on the lawn. And in 48 hrs, she digressed to worse than ever. Still no sign of pain, except on our faces 😮💨
I'm sorry this is happening. She couldn't ask for a better family. It's easy to see she's enjoyed the best life with your family. I sense she is feeling gratitude, even now--grateful for all the love you've given her and that she is safe by your side in these moments.
