With all the work today, over at vis.social, I almost forgot to post this photo.

I did some test prints, and most of them turned out great!

The one I expected to not work great, was ok. But not great.

Some of them are gorgeous...at least to me :)

These are created from some of my creative coding experiments.

@KristinHenry those look like they came out very well - I love the colours and level of detail! Do you have any tips for printing generative art (e.g., finding a good printer and choosing a suitable paper)?

@gmschroe Thank you!
I've worked with a local Find Art Photography printer shop for years. The do mostly high end photography, but do well with my works.

For paper, you'll want a fine art paper. There are so many options in that department. You'll need to go look at the samples and do some test prints.

For some of my work, I go with ink-infused aluminum. It yields amazing color saturation.

I hope that was helpful.

@gmschroe these particular prints are on Canson Arches 88 Matte fine art paper.

@KristinHenry thank you! I'm completely new to printing, but I'm starting to make work that I'd like physical copies of - it would be nice to take some of my art off of a screen. Finding a local printer sounds like it could be a good way for me to get expert advice, too.

@gmschroe It's very satisfying, but there is a learning curve. What looks great on the screen can look terrible in print. So give yourself space and time to figure out what works for your creations.

Do small test prints before committing to a bigger print.

@KristinHenry that's good to know - I also haven't been accounting for factors like printable colour ranges when I make my work, so I imagine I might need to make some changes for print versions. Thanks again for sharing your experiences!
