If things go bad & I can’t get on time, can anyone recommend /remedies/whatever to help withdrawal?

Also, is there anything legal & equivalent in pain control to 25ug fentanyl (not as strong as you think). If I can find something I don’t need a script for that would be great so I’m not held hostage like this in future.

Medicating yourself is pretty much illegal in unless it’s alcohol.

is illegal btw

If your GP won't help with chronic pain, ask to see a pain specialist. They have access to a range of options that might help. They might suggest something like daily slow release naproxen or slow release opioids etc.

You may need to consider upgrading your GP as well. Bulk billing GP's usually don't have time for patients with complex needs, and chronic pain is a complex need.

Also (and this may vary by state, I have no idea), it seems that getting access to medical cannabis is easier than it used to be. If you have a chronic condition that isn't handled well by conventional medications, try getting yourself an appointment with a medical cannabis expert and they might be able to help you.

Been looking for a new GP for a year and nobody wants a complex case.
This GP is not bulk billing. I was referred to a pain specialist but after much messing around the GP decided to handle it, then changed his mind and dropped me. Entire thing mismanaged and now I have to suffer.

Doesn’t help me. Need prescription unless you have “special friends”. Nearly everything in Australia needs a prescription.

maggiemaybe,

@halcionandon @chronicpain @mecfs Buy IMMODIUM AD for withdrawal. It’ll help with the diarrhea but it also tricks your body into thinking you have opioids. Idk how it will stand up to fentanyl, but every time I have come off pain pills it has saved me.

Also get something STRONG to help you sleep if you can. I’ve only come off pain medication with plenty of warning because it was my decision, so I had a whole month to wean off everything. Even slowly weaning over a month, getting down to 2.5 mg oxycodone a day I still had a rough few nights, but every time I’ve had to do it, the third night is always the worst and once I get through that I’m good. I mean I still feel weird for a couple days but once I get through the third night everything is so much better.

It’s not like you see in the movies, I assume that’s an accurate depiction of cold turkey withdrawal from injecting, but I have never experienced anything close to TV depicted withdrawals any of the times I quit taking pain meds after daily use for years.

Also wanted to point out that I have & this mofo dr doesn’t think I need painkillers.

tears phone book in half

Any endo remedies welcome. No hormones please. IUDs or otherwise. I’ve had oestrogen blockers pushed on me but refused because of the huge osteoporosis risk. Turns out they don’t help & oestrogen isn’t the problem in endo…🤦‍♀️

maggiemaybe,

@halcionandon @chronicpain @mecfs @endometriosis I don’t know I just had to stop using topical progesterone because it was making me feel violent. I am so angry that they kept trying to push birth control pills and an IUD on me when I insisted I would become a psychopath. They “lol’d” until I went in there explaining that I almost kicked my cat out of the house and he’s my favorite thing ever. They were like “yeah these things do cause emotional reactions” yeah no shit JUST LIKE I SAID IT WOULD.

Honestly, topical cannabis products are the only thing that helps me with it that won’t cause bad side effects.

Oh, and ibuprofen, which is really bad for me. I have a daily prescription for oxycodone and it doesn’t touch endometriosis pain. Mine is so bad they even gave me a couple dulaudid for when I have abdominal migraines triggered by my period.

They say opioids don’t really help that much with that kind of pain and I hate to admit that they are right about that for me. But they take the edge off and that is better than nothing.
