So earlier this evening, my partner got a notification that a #package had been delivered to our #CanadaPost#community#mailbox -- i.e. in a separate delivery from the usual mail during the day.
I went out to check, and indeed they had left the #key for package compartment "2B" in our box.
With the key snapped off right at the base of the big plastic "gas station bathroom key attached to a cinderblock" fob...
@cazabon Ugh. I ordered some Purdy’s for mom and was watching for it all day Monday. #CanadaPost said delivery attempted and jammed the fragile package in the freezing cold communitybox sideways overnight, didn’t find it to next day. My work desk is literally four steps from the front door. They’ve done that before- delivery attempted. Nope, sorry, Ceno and I both work at home alllll day…… #Lies
Had to look #Purdys up - #chocolate? At least freezing wouldn't damage it.
Yes, we've had good #carriers and bad over the years here. The worst one kept doing the "delivery attempted" thing, just leaving the go-pick-it-up doorcards without trying to #deliver them. I eventually caught him because I was passing the door as he approached. He stopped dead and looked panicked.
He offered me the door card. I said "No, I would like my package". He didn't have it, and I knew it...
I knew he didn't have it because the online tracking showed a "delivery attempted" at 7:50am, and this was hours later.
I figured out what he was doing - at the start of his #shift, he'd mark every package on his route as "delivery attempted" and fill out all the door cards, and he then dropped the packages off at the Shoppers Drug Mart before even #starting his #route!
I'd complained about his #antics enough times that a #postal inspector/supervisor had given me #contact info.
Yes. The inspector had previously told me they had loads of #problems from that guy, but of course very little could be done about it - #public#sector#unions in this country essentially make it #impossible to fire or even discipline their members, no matter how egregious, incompetent, or even malicious they are in the performance of their duties.
Of course, the bad apples are the exception, not the rule - but they ruin things for everyone.
