I believe many from who abandoned will probably embrace by (many are already using Instagram like for what it is worth).

I will try to reintroduce them to the , but this time promote & as viable options.

I believe the window of opportunity for this will be short, as I assume (I have not evidence for this, so be skeptical) Threads will launch managed hosting options within months of entering the Fediverse.

@darnell One reason I don’t entirely trust the Fediverse purists is due to how they treated when the was in full swing. And it’s why these jackasses should never be entrusted as gatekeepers.

@darnell Actually, “entirely trust” is an understatement 😆

Downright, I eye them with suspicion, and their performative activism actually harms marginalized communities.

@atomicpoet Yeah, I am highly suspicious of anything does nowadays. I think that is one of the reasons why they are building , as it is an attempt to regain trust with half of the planet who hates them.

I noticed that Threads also uses as a login & not (which probably shows how much people hate Facebook).

@atomicpoet Yeah I agree. I do think they might be more open to using as quote posting was something many in desired out of .

So here’s an interesting question. If you had an unlimited budget, and kickass designers at your disposal, what do you think would be the perfect Fediverse platform for ? What would this look like?

darnell,
@darnell@one.darnell.one avatar

@atomicpoet Oh wow! That is a good question. I am not sure about North America, but I did buy up several .africa domains & I have been pondering about setting up instances to serve non-English communities in (they would be based upon languages, culture & tribes).

I was debating about hiring developers & designers from AfriBlocks (https://www.afriblocks.com) to build it too. Hosting would legally be tricky though, as every country has different laws.

laurenshof,

@atomicpoet interesting question! If i would be based on current platforms, either existing or in development, I'd have to go with something that looks like Bonfire. Their custom boundaries, that give granular control of who can see and respond to post, would seem to be to be valuable to a lot of people, and most definitely including

jaypeach53,

@darnell @atomicpoet The thing that appeals to me besides quote posting is a greater than 500 character posts. I’m on calckey.art too, where there’s, I think, a 3000 character limit for posts. I get a little long winded at times and 1000-1500 character ramblings is nice to have.

orthoheterodox1,

@darnell A lot of Black people seem to have quit BlueSky in the last month as well. They may try Threads next.

@orthoheterodox1 With the amount of annoying screen shots to newsy events I see on my page, I am very sure will be a hit. I plan on opening an account as well & promote posts from & .
