Hear me out, enabled games. If you developed a game, and are looking to add a social network experience to it, ping me, would be a fun project to work on.

@mapache
Explain please. Let's pretend I am making a small game that is infinitely replayable with a high score table. How would this table be socialised in your opinion?

@darth well, yes, that requires exploration based on the goals game. But Activity pub is simply the publication of "activities" or events, so it could be as simple as login with your fediverse account, autopublishing a score into a post, or when you get a badge or a level complete (including media).

You could also have the game accounts that publish a score leaderboard per day/month/etc., tagging accounts and updating it whenever changes.

All these actions could gain new users.

@mapache
Ah, so that's not really an implementation of ActivityPub protocol now, is it? I thought you wanted to get your programmer hands really dirty.

@darth I may lack imagination, that is why I am only offering dev skills, I never suggested to implement the protocol but use it to add social experience, but now I am intrigued, what it is in your mind?

@mapache board games are a good fit to play over social media. You could make people play chess over Mastodon. In theory over Twitter as well, but they don’t have a free API anymore.

@darth I am just listening to by @mike ans @J12t brings the interesting example of farmville and .

I do remember playing the farm sim game, now imagine all the social interactions inside the game happened because and/or through .

@mapache @mike @J12t I do understand but my disapointment comes from the word ActivityPub used in underwhelming way. See, Mastodon creator used ActivityPub. Pixelfed creator used ActivityPub. Lemmy creator too.

But what you are proposing can work on Twitter as well. It’s not building on the protocol itself but rather on top of Mastodon.

What I imagined was building an ActivityPub game server which would proxy in-game events. But my game is too simple.

@darth @mike @J12t I get what you say, but I think the value of ActivityPub is the community behind and not the technology itself. Yes, you could use WebXDC, AT bluesky proto, Nostr or Blockchain-like, but none offer the open social community of the Fediverse.

@mapache @mike @J12t I wasn’t even considering any of them :) But you did give me an idea for a Fediverse game (not ActivityPub game, but Fedi/Masto one)
