@ricmac@Flipboard@jon Are only certain magazines on the fediverse atm? This seems cool, but I can't figure out if when I follow in Flipboard if I can get that in the fediverse somehow.
@chris_hayes Hi Chris! We're slowly federating publishers and curators so that we have the chance to hear feedback from the community and make adjustments. Eventually the whole platform will be federated but in the meantime you can check the pinned posts on our profile to see who you can follow here. We're also doing Follow Fridays etc across this account and our editorial desks (@NewsDesk, @TechDesk, @ScienceDesk, @CultureDesk and @ArtPhotosDesk) to help people find cool profiles and Magazines (topical feeds).
@ricmac@Flipboard I don’t think I was on the Flipboard beat right when it came out, but I definitely picked it up and covered it as long as I was there. Anything in the “reading on iPads” category has always been bait for me. And then I ended up working with @miaq later, and now here we all are. Flipboard is intertwined with my destiny.
@evan@miaq@ricmac@Flipboard Well, that is definitely true from the point of view I always assumed when liaising with participants who wanted software things to happen, which was, “Your best bet is to make it, go viral for it, get everyone using it, and then we’ll have to go along with it.”
@evan@jon Should I reach out to our friends there? Float the idea? I'm sure they're all too busy, but camp.social is a very cool idea -- I bet some early adopters would bite!
@Flipboard@jon I have to add, when the iPad came out in 2010, Flipboard was one of my most-used apps. I no longer use a tablet, mainly because my 6-year old son took it over and it’s now his. So some of those iPad apps I used to use fell out of favour. But swings and roundabouts, being a fediverse app has brought it back onto my screens.
