iOS 17

What on earth??

This is a dialogue I get now when I try to use Siri to communicate with someone I send messages to via iMessage constantly.

It happens with “send a text to“ and “send a message to“. The only way I can make it not appear is with “send an iMessage to”.

MuseumShuffle,
@MuseumShuffle@mastodon.social avatar

@chontorres it actually stopped doing it before I could try this.

@MuseumShuffle frustrating, but glad it works!

I feel like a doofus for asking this, but when you are in standby mode using two widgets if you tap one of them then this button appears that lets you easily unlock the phone.

How the heck do you unlock the phone when you’re using only one widget (specifically the digital clock)? That button doesn’t appear and swiping up changes to a different clock.

MuseumShuffle,
@MuseumShuffle@mastodon.social avatar

@vincefried I think I’m gonna file feedback because it doesn’t make sense that it’s so easy to unlock with two widgets but impossible to unlock with one widget.

@MuseumShuffle Literally holding it wrong 😛

Letzteres nimmt jeder gerne an.

Owners of an Apple Watch. With iOS 17, Siri can now not only give you health data; like how many steps you have taken, most recent heart rate or blood oxygen, but it can also look in the past for you. For example, if I was wondering my heart rate while I was sleeping, I could say, what was my heart rate between midnight and 5 AM. It would then tell me the lowest and highest rates my heart reached during that time, plus my average rate during that time. It can do this for any hour you want to know about. This makes getting this information a lot quicker and easier. So if you want or need to know any health information, instead of trying to dig through the health app, just use Siri to find it for you! #iOS17 #Health #Data #Siri

I’ve started encountering the weirdest CarPlay bug. The other day I could hear voice directions from Apple Maps, but I couldn’t get the Apple Music or podcast apps to play audio.

Today during my drive, everything was fine until 10 minutes in when I used CarPlay Siri to set a reminder. After that I was back to no audio in music or podcasts.

MuseumShuffle,
@MuseumShuffle@mastodon.social avatar

@BrendanThompson I have wired CarPlay and unplugging and plugging back in Didn’t fix it. The phone is also connected to the car via Bluetooth, so maybe that prevented it from being a real disconnect.

BrendanThompson,
@BrendanThompson@mastodon.social avatar

@MuseumShuffle hmmm strange. Mine used to be hard wired too, but I got some adapter thing from Amazon hahah. For me, at least, I could never have Bluetooth connected to Audi MMI and plugged in for CarPlay at the same time. If I remember when I jump in the car later I’ll have a tinker

I guess now could be a good time to see what’s new in iOS 17. At this stage Apple has fixed all the bugs they ever will fix and it’s as stable as it’ll ever be. My app has so far required 16, so I don’t think there will be any issues with porting. However I can’t remember a single interesting feature in 17 that I actually wanted as a developer? Was there anything new at all? Not talking about minor convenience updates to some old API:s, but brand new stuff. Anything?

chakie,
@chakie@toot.community avatar

@MuseumShuffle No, they don’t really fit. But I made a small personal app to track electricity prices and it uses the charts. Weren’t they added in 2022 though? The bar charts I used were a bit buggy, but kind of worked ok with some caveats.

MuseumShuffle,
@MuseumShuffle@mastodon.social avatar

@chakie No. RuleMarks in charts require iOS 17.

I've found iOS is real annoying with Bluetooth...It keeps Bluetooth on despite the icon being gray. I have to go into settings to turn it completely off. If I reboot my phone, this toggle is not persistent.

Android handles Bluetooth so well, if the icon is gray, it's not on. iOS devs at Apple HQ need to fix this Waffle House behavior! 😵‍💫

marveltech,
@marveltech@mstdn.games avatar

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds It’s intended behaviour since maybe ios 13 or 14. BT doesn’t actually drains battery nowadays and many users forgot to toggle it on and called support their BT doesn’t work.

📢 In the latest episode of the @sharedsecurity Podcast, we address the rumors circulating around the new iOS 17 NameDrop feature.

We discuss the misconceptions, debunk misinformation, and provide insights into how Apple's intention to enhance user experience is often misunderstood.

As someone who uses both a work and personal phone, I encountered the NameDrop feature firsthand and decided to disable it for convenience and NOT for privacy reasons. It's crucial to critically analyze information and separate the facts from the noise, even when its posted by law enforcement!

It's very strange to me, seeing Mammoth get so popular somehow over the past few days. Given that a lot of their features, IceCubes did first, it's just kinda weird. Just saying.

Not to mention, IceCubes is free, although it's always good to tip the developer; had better icons to choose from, for free; and generates Alt Text for your images on demand.

What are you waiting for? Go download @IceCubesApp today!

only, due to the new performance features.
