To fairly cut a cake to share between 2 people:

  • One person cuts the cake
  • Second person chooses their. slice

How do you cut a cake to share between 3 people? 🤔

Google is your friend here, but I always found this problem fascinating. There are a number of solutions, both mathematical and philosophical.

Soln.
Hide the cake until the other two have left. Eat all of the cake.

@davemark Harberger cake? Everyone cuts their own piece, but if anyone wishes to switch pieces once they can? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harberger_Tax 🍰

@davemark The problem is that the word “fair” means different things to different people. Thus there is no universal way to solve the problem when the word fair and more than one person is involved.
The only answer is that nothing is fair and everyone must deal with that fact.
