Spent the day gaming. The world is so getting me down. Feels like greed and ego are winning, and those who could wield some power for good refuse to do so.
So I did some good in Valheim. And survived the first troll attack on our home with little damage. Still a scary moment.
I hope I'll feel better tomorrow. I know what I want to write.
Wrote a few words for Sun this morning, and he went and twisted away from the plans I had for him.
He will NOT escape fate. No, he won't. I will twist things back.
Also survived the office day, got groceries, cooked a meal (improvised, but turned out well) and died a lot in Valheim. Those Draugr aren't easy, especially the archers. (No pics. The Swamp is dark.)
Highly successful day: I finished a difficult admin task that involved API keys, automations and integrations. And I really hope it all works.
Didn't manage to write, but that's okay. The business end is also very important.
Yes, of course, I played Valheim. Steered my boat through the most harrowing, long, narrow passage yet. Froze for part of it. But now I have a ship on the southern end of my continent and that's great.
I did open Sun's file. Read through the last chapter, couldn't get started with the next one.
Proofread more for my friend, finished the first batch.
And yes, played Valheim. Twink #2 (let me introduce him: Mastodon, this is Bruin, Bruin, these are my friends in a different Universe). Enjoy the sunset.
I know what needs to happen to Sun next. And it will be painful. I hope I can find a start tomorrow morning.
#WritersCoffeeClub 4/28: Do you ever picture a character as someone from real life? E.g. an actor, etc.
I don't.
I know people create character collections, for inspiration etc, but I just can't. I find it difficult to even imagine the face.
I tried playing with AI for inspiration, and that could work, but even those images don't stick in my mind. (I could see using them as templates for artists to create drawing of my chars).
Ran my Mastermind - always a joy to exchange information and create motivation!
Then I played Valheim. Good fun, and I am realizing how much I have learned in the last two months. I can now throw up a basic house in minutes, for example.
Also wrote the Blurb for Sun Burns so I can order a cover soon. Want to see it? (Let me know and I'll share the blurb tomorrow.)
Wrote 700 words for Sun this morning. Survived the office - chatted for quite a bit with a colleague who is starting a new job next week. Will probably not see her again...
Played Valheim, gradually easing my way into the Swamp (getting killed fairly regularly there).
Also started proofing a revised version of her book for a friend (yes, you can hire me). Oh, and I cooked food for myself.
Today, I wrote 500 words for Sun. They are almost safe - at least that's what they think. (They are wrong...)
Of course, I also played Valheim. Managed to grow my first turnips and unlocked a new item that in turn unlocked a bunch of new cooking recipes. And voilá, my health and stamina get better! (Do not ask what goes into the sausage.)
Still a lot of Valheim, but less disappointing. Twink is very carefully exploring the Swamp and finding new - scary! - creatures. Need to learn new skills. (Blocking and mace)
I did open the file for Sun, read through the last chapter, edited a bit - and fizzed out.
But I also cooked a meal, took Valheim breaks and had fun. Slow change is better for me.
Another day with a lot of Valheim - but I finished setting up the emails for my autoresponder and got some coaching for it, too. Feels very good.
And then my friend joined me in Valheim and we had an epic adventure befitting Vikings - battling a troll, graydwarves and skeletons at night in a storm. We ended up victorious and with plans for the next adventure in place. It will take some prep - and then we'll face the next big boss.
