: This artist's concept illustrates Kepler-16b, the first planet known to definitively orbit two stars -- what's called a circumbinary planet. The planet, which can be seen in the foreground, was discovered by NASA's Kepler mission. The two orbiting stars regularly eclipse each other, as seen from our point of view on Earth. How Feelings Can Deliver Misinformation

To convert feeling-based misinformation into reliable information, one must think consciously about whether the information was derived from reliable processes.

Were those "alien farts" that the James Webb Space Telescope detected in an Earth-like planet's atmosphere last year, or were they just clouds of methane? A new study makes the case for the latter, potentially dampening hopes that life has already been discovered beyond our solar system. Live Science has more: https://flip.it/yo.FL2

Here's one of the few more modern articles I found about this Arc gene and how brains work. "Arc Regulates Transcription of Genes for Plasticity, Excitability and Alzheimer’s Disease"

This link results in lots of technical articles, including one from this year:

Unregulated AI is a problem.

"Some scientists can't stop using AI to write research papers

If you read about 'meticulous commendable intricacy' there's a chance a boffin had help"

"Using AI models can be very risky as they often produce inaccurate text, the very thing scientific literature is not supposed to do. AI models can even fabricate quotations and citations,..."

I love Anthony Grafton for his love for the epistemologically & morally grey figures and areas between & & that emerge when the new gets to be born. Here he talks very accessibly about his new book about such a seminal figure in : the Magus. Ok, peoples. It's that time of year again. I'm going to need two volunteers. I know most of you already do flutracking but there must be two (Australian/NZ) stragglers among you?

It is - and I'm not exaggerating - thirty seconds of your time on a Monday morning. And you'll be doing science!

Copper coating turns touchscreens into bacteria killers | In tests, the TANCS was found to kill 99.9% of applied bacteria within two hours. It also remained intact and effective after being subjected to the equivalent of being wiped down with cleansers twice a day for two years. https://www.byteseu.com/79148/

This morning, China's Chang'e-6 spacecraft set off to collect samples of the lunar farside & bring them back to Earth. The complex mission includes a drill, a scoop, and a mini rover.
