pauldrye, In "After the Dark Star" you get around by atomic rocket and for the interior design I want a real late-40s/early 50s aesthetic. Major examples are from art by Noel Sickles in LIFE's 14/1/49 issue and Hergé's famous moon rocket.
I'm intrigued that both go greebly, but in a distinct way from the post-Star Wars look we see today.
Key to this style, I think, is that the SF of the time period aimed for plausibility (glossing over some) as opposed to, say, Buck Rogers earlier.
