@daridrea@fasterthanlime I mean, I feel like Rust pretty clearly demonstrates that many of the things people refer to as tradeoffs can actually become the best of both worlds with well-constructed infrastructure. The borrow checker being the obvious example, proving that allocation management doesn't have to require runtime costs because all the necessary information is available at compile-time, it's just most languages decide not to use it.
