@thomasfuchs Call me old fashioned, but I don't want a machine that answers question, I want a search engine that leads me to interesting websites. Something that doesn't try to figure out what I might need and just gives me something that fits the search pattern I enter.
@thomasfuchs What's really fun is that the UK 'government' has announced today that asylum claims are to be assessed by AI, and that can be a matter of life or death. They also broke encryption.
@thomasfuchs Of course, if that was translated from one of the African 'click' languages, it may have once made perfect sense. It's a model of languages, not of reality. They don't always make sense.
@thomasfuchs wow, we should all keep posting the garbage like this that comes out of AI systems. I must admit I didn't realise the rot was so ingrained, thanks for the reminder. Surely with it being this crap the AI bubble is about to burst (again)?
@thomasfuchs that answer got ranked high because lots of people were pointing at it and laughing. The website that answers is from is showing a chatgpt response. It's a weakness of Google, for sure, but nothing to do with AI. Humans will always need to look at contextual clues and not blindly believe ... well, anything.
