Weirdly after trying optical inserts at the Apple Store and comparing it to just using it with contact lenses at home, I think I prefer the contacts. For me at least there’s less “fringing” on the edges of the display with contacts

The Audible iOS app redesign has some very curious UI performance issues on macOS that don't seem to be present on iPadOS at all, even with window resizing. I wonder what part of the system they're hitting that's biting back so hard. You have to work pretty hard to get sub-1fps on Apple Silicon

Anyone have experience with refactoring a large C++ code base and can suggest any tools to make it easier?

I've got a bunch of classes that need to be renamed, and the original names a short and ambiguous enough that a simple find-replace isn't going to work.

@foone LLMs are terrible programmers but I’ve had semi-decent success with refactoring using ChatGPT - unfortunately it has to be a small code base or it gets confused, so that doesn’t really fit your use case.

Although it could help with some renaming if you’re having trouble remembering what does what? Generating the most likely name based on existing text seems exactly the kind of thing an LLM was made for

That's a word salad but like, "plug type won't matter once wireless charging becomes the norm" is, uh, a sentiment few people who know much about electricity transmission and electric vehicles will agree with, yet it's repeated ad nauseum.

Some tvOS update must have changed the device naming rules, because now it won't allow you to use parentheses, i.e. “Apple TV (Kitchen)”, but device names that already had parentheses in them are fine 😅 So now half of the Apple TVs in the house can use my preferred naming scheme, but anything newer I add to the network cannot. I can't even rename it using Xcode — it reverts immediately

@stroughtonsmith might I recommend “[Room Name] Device name”? HomeUI truncates the room name whenever it makes sense to.
