Most people want the sound of the Moog filter, when they buy Moog. The design of that filter is well known and understood and easy to build, and is even easily emulated in software.
So, the sound is not exclusive to Moog products anymore.
What makes a company like Moog stand out? Obviously it is the name, and the build quality, that is associated with the name.
This leads to the following questions, where we will find the answers in the future: Can Moog keep the build quality when relocating the production? Will Moog be profitable? Or will only the name survive and printed on any cheap synthesizer that is willing to pay a trademark fee?
Because if I don't get the Build Quality AND "Made in UK" bonus, I might just go #Yamaha because they'll likely offer a comparable if not better product at the same if not cheaper price and the benefit of a solid brand with excellent reputation, quality and a dense network or distributors and official as well as unofficial support facilities around the globe.
