I wish code factory actually gave half a crap. The new Voice I bought a few days ago with the remainder of my Google play balance is awesome, but it cannot pronounce Alex Trebek’s last name, which is one of my sacred words. If a voice cannot pronounce that it irritates the life out of me.
@evilcookies98@InsaneAtheist I know eloquence uses dictionaries that you can make/modify, but not sure if vocalizer does. let me open the vocalizer app, and see if there is a dictionary in it somewhere.
@jamminjerry@InsaneAtheist my problem isn’t with that particular engine. I had to get another one because somebody told me that engine was broken with 14.

@jamminjerry@ratking@InsaneAtheist I got a message from someone on my Discord saying they utterly broke it. That’s the engine I prefer because I’ve gotten used to its weird little glitches and quirks over the years.
@ratking@evilcookies98@InsaneAtheist which pixel do you have? it just might not work on the pixel 8? maybe we should ask people on the blind android users telegram group to see what they say about vocalizer working on either the pixel 7 or 8. you have the 7, so that is the one you should ask about.?
@evilcookies98@jamminjerry@InsaneAtheist From what i understand there's sometimes issues with getting the app from the playstore itself. using an APK gets around that.
@evilcookies98@ratking@InsaneAtheist have you tried installing vocalizer to see if it would work on your phone? worst thing that would happen is it won't work.
@ratking@evilcookies98@InsaneAtheist well it is suppose to, however, I have seen a time or two when mine crashed, and the backup didn't kick in, but I just restarted my phone, and things were fine again.

@evilcookies98@ratking what ever you press on your phone to bring up the power menu, then use that to press it and hold it for around 15 seconds. so for example on your phone if you press the side key to bring up the power menu, then to do the hard reboot, press and hold the side key for 15 seconds. I can't remember what it is on a pixel phone. smile.
@ratking@jamminjerry that’s a relief. That’s a problem with certain other devices. Hold that key for a second too long and you’re calling emergency services whether you want to or not.
@evilcookies98@ratking like I said, as I have my side key for bixby, in your case, maybe you set it to google, then yours might be pressing holding the side key and volume down to bring up your power menu. if this is the case, then press and hold the side key, and volume down for 15 seconds. yes, you will hear it say power, but just keep holding and counting to 15 seconds. I can do a recording for you if you would like. just remember mine is a samsung, and it may not be the same keys, but the same thing works on a pixel.
@evilcookies98@ratking rat correct me if I am wrong, but on pixel phones don't you have to press the side key five times or something like that to make an emergansy call? I know you can double tap that in the power menu, but I also think you can rapidly press the side key five times to do the emergancy call.
@ratking@jamminjerry good, so not the easiest thing for me to accidentally trigger. What does that lockdown button do? Not about to click it, but I’ve never seen it on another device, so I was kind of wondering about it.
@ratking@jamminjerry so something I need to use every time I’m around a certain individual in my household who likes to snatch my phone. OK. That’s a nice feature. I did not know about.
@ratking@evilcookies98 well that sounds a bit pointless. it sounds like it does the same thing as if you put the phone to sleep. anytime I wake mine up, I have oto use either my fingerprint, or my pin.
@jamminjerry@ratking as I understand it, it disables the fingerprint reader, and the face unlock on mine. Face lock would be the particularly challenging one, if somebody were to snatch my phone. If it could see my face, it would pop open. Now I know what to do when in the presence of the phone snatcher
@evilcookies98@ratking someone tried that shit with me, I would smack there hand! hard as hell too! I have done it before. I didn't care if it was a family membor or not. it is my phone don't touch it unless I ask you to bring it to me, or I say you can use it. just like if someone trys to take food off my plate, I growl at them, and show them my fork. they still try to do it, I poke them hard with my fork. lol.
@ratking@jamminjerry usually it gets snatched out of my lap while I’m watching something, or off the table in front of me while I’m distracted by something else like my coffee cup. If I had a way to ping it, I would. I actually had an app on my iPhone that would set off an alarm when the phone was moved, and it would only shut up if I disarmed it with a code.
@jamminjerry@ratking very true. Then again, if people want to get into my room, they’ll have to figure out the way to unlock my chain. I had to put a chain on the door because the dogs figured out how to knock it open and barge in. They’re not allowed in here because I have a lot of important stuff and they like to use the toilet all over everything. They’ve been trained not to, but they think it’s funny.
@evilcookies98@InsaneAtheist yes acapella does have dictionaries, however, I don't see how you add words to it. there isn't an add button in there. there is just an export dictionary, and an import dictionary.
@dhamlinmusic honestly I’m not sure. It’s still in my previous purchases list but that’s kind of obvious. Then again, so are all those Ivona voices that were in beta 10 years ago or something
