@vixalientoots it was the X desktop group back when it was about formalising the Extended Window Manager Hints, then in 2003 it branched off into cross desktop specs for non-X11 related stuff
And some people in the Linux space are, to this day, still pondering about supporting positively ancient specs like base directories and desktop entries; this is why we can't have nice things
@latenightowl I’d say that it’s well documented, considering that the spec has multiple implementations outside of the reference one; if you’re talking about using it, then it’s mainly a library reference issue
