Hmm, how do I compile a Christmas list for me when I don’t really want or need anything?

A donation to the local foodbank is already on the list as is a planting trees in Africa charity.

Managed to add a purse, a phone case and an iPad case but I’m stumped now. We’re comfortably off and don’t need others to buy us anything but they want to.

I hate receiving tat so would rather have nothing or a charity donation, but get told that’s not what they want to do.

What on else can I ask for???

Or even things like: "I'll walk your dog/look after your budgie for x amount of time", do your ironing for an hour twice next year.. Knit you mittens if you tell me the pattern and yarn (colour) to use...
Lots of possibilities.

Do you want to spend time with the potential gift givers and they could give you a "voucher" for it? Like: going out together to watch a film at the cinema (either with getting a ticket for you or going Dutch), or a voucher for going on a walk together... Or whatever it is like you might like to do together with them/that person?

@Giselle sounds great! But I’m an introvert and happiest at home on my own! Babysitting vouchers would be good though, I rarely ask my parents or anyone to babysit as we’ve become self-reliant due to covid lockdowns (extended in Gtr Manchester compared to rest of UK)

Also in the same boat. My brothers and I don't buy for each other at all now for that reason. Mum is an exception. My wife's family still go full on, and I've lost track of the number of shirts that go straight to charity without ever being worn.

tamsin,

@hobbitswife Edible things? Especially from local/small businesses. At least it's not landfill tat, and you get a fancier version of something you might have bought anyway (e.g coffee from local roaster, beer from microbrewery etc)

@tamsin I would put gin on the list but I don’t drink at home very often so it’s a waste and I have several good bottles waiting to be opened. Coffee I do like but not so much as to want it as a pressie. But yeah consumables is a good idea, will see what I can think of!

@hobbitswife I'm in the same boat. I just reached the point of saying "I don't need anything and I don't want anything" again and again and again until the message starts to sink in. I just know that my [relative] will buy me "something little" because "you can't have nothing" and that something little will be at a charity shop or the tip before New Year. What a waste.
