I checked on dict.cc if 'grog' (in a drink made of hot water and rum) is known in speaking countries.

It didn't come up with a British word/explanation, but with an one: 'drink made with water or 'Small Beer' (a weak beer) and rum'.

Is diluted with hot water really not drunk in Britain (something I can hardly believe)?

And how does made with beer taste (which I find hard to imagine and don't want to try until I' ve been assured that it is palatable)?
