In a conversation on reddit today someone asked if other languages have phrases like "rightie tightie, leftie loosie" to remember which way to turn screws/lids/etc. And one person answers that in Spanish, the phrase is:

"La derecha oprime, la izquierda libera."

or:

"The right oppresses, the left liberates."

(Now I kind of want to put this on a t shirt)

@sarahbecan @fsvo Presumably in the former Soviet bloc, jar lids are made to turn the other way.

@sarahbecan I work with a spanish guy in spain. Because i ALSO want it on a t-shirt i asked him.

He confirmed the phrase but says it's "quite unusual". Didn't know what people typically say and is going to ask around. I'll report back.

Regardless, I'm prolly gonna put it on a t-shirt. ;)
