This latest #MIDI mangling experiment is actually pretty dope. I'm getting point estimates of note occurrence probability in the mario theme song, and then filtering the midi file like a low or high pass filter, except the filter deletes notes based on their probability. I wish I had this in eurorack. But, #rstats will do for now. #generativemusic #rstatsmusic

@MattCrumpLab This is way cool. Thanks for sharing this! I had no idea about the midiblender crate.

(I haven't looked at this crate yet, but) It seems like it might be interesting to use frequency to control some other parameter of the notes, like velocity or a (bandpass) filter sweep.

@d2718 Thanks, I just wrote the midiblender package yesterday so very new and still in an exploratory phase.

Still pretty excited about this one, even started searching up how I might implement this kind of stuff in a programmable eurorack module, but that’s too many rabbit holes for me right now. Yet, I wonder what modules have the most RAM and CPU etc…shuddering at the thought of having to program in C++ again

Found some discussion of eurorack platforms that has some helpful links, I wonder if there are more current options

vijaymarupudi,

@MattCrumpLab If avoiding C++ is the goal, I feel like monome crow (lua) and EuroPi (python) might be the most easy. If you want to use R, a laptop + crow or laptop + ES8/9.

I've been thinking of the same question lately, been enjoying the crow!

@vijaymarupudi cool, I haven’t heard of either of those, will check them out, thanks!
