@charliemchapman I use Profiles in Safari, and yeah they are a bit janky.

I’d really like the option to right click and choose to open a link in a specific profile. I can right click and add to a tab group, but not a profile.

@charliemchapman Indeed a window is assigned to a profile - no way to mix profiles in the same window 🙈. Every profile has its own tab groups. You can launch a profile window with alt + shift + cmd + number of the prifile e.g. ⌥⇧⌘1

@konstantin The pattern seems to be it’ll give you the option to switch profiles if you’re currently on the “Start page” but not if you’re on an actual tab in your tab group? I cannot understand why that limitation exists though. It’s kind of infuriating

oh wait… 🤨 there is the ability to switch profiles within the same window... but for some tab groups it just disappears?

@charliemchapman I only see the "Switch” action when a window has no tabs open, which makes me think it's intentional. Not sure WHY it'd be intentional, though.

@charliemchapman It’s truly something missing in Safari. But the fact that profiles don’t sync was one thing missing in Arc. Perfection, Ô perfection, never to be reached 😉…

@fabriceneuman I thought Safari does have syncronization? Like I just set up my two profiles with all my tab groups and it looks like they’re all showing up on my phone? Is that not what you mean?

@fabriceneuman Oh you mean in Arc? Arc definitely does do synchronization. I use that all the time between my computers.

I was hopeful for their iOS browser but the big pivot to an AI search engine thing is kind of what’s making me just want to switch back to Safari

@charliemchapman Hi, I was talking about Arc on macOS where, as far as I can see, Profiles don’t sync. Is it not your experience? (See image). And yes Safari Profiles sync which is for me essential.

@charliemchapman I tried the same thing and profiles are totally busted in Safari compared to Arc. I have one space for my personal stuff and another for my YouTube account, and Arc nicely keeps me logged into the right account in each space. Safari seems to not let me do this at all.

@matt Yeah, that’s all I want. Personal profile & work profile. With pinned tabs to get to the collection of web apps I regularly open between them but with different accounts.

I guess I just assumed that would work even if I lost some of the other nice-to-haves but that’s pretty disappointing

I actually usually use this kinda workflow, and was annoyed with Arc that it all stays in one window

But the only thing keeping me with Arc right now is that it remembers my tabs across all the profiles, even when closing and opening Arc

But Arc is giving me serious connection issues that I’m debating going back to Safari
