most importantly from Buddhism is the escape from the cycle of rebirth into a world of suffering, by no longer needing to be reborn, having learned enough. I disagree. I feel the purpose of rebirth after enlightenment is to prove that those ideas can improve the material world. Mission from the creator.
To bring it back to the original point, much of modern religious belief is about resisting change. Why? Why so much fear? Is the cause of paranoia physical or social?
