Who gets sued when the AI nurse provides bad medical advice?

• The health insurance company pushing these services on healthcare providers to drive down costs?
• The healthcare provider pushing these unwanted services on their patients?
• The AI company providing the services?
• The programmer who wrote the code?
• The former Reddit user whose snarky comment on a board back in 2008 was used to train the AI model?

@Bender @maxkennerly @aral

I think the idea is that the AI nurse would be sued.

What are your symptoms please?

Runny nose, fever.

I'm sorry you have cancer. Goodbye.

@maxkennerly @carl Funny enough, a year and a bit ago, I had a medical problem. I quickly discovered that my GP was useless, and also that ChatGPT did a better job of diagnosing the symptoms than him, which was grimly funny (after the first attempt to get him to diagnose it, I realised that he was Googling my symptoms on the next visit when I refused to accept the same treatment a second time. He still got it wrong, and his surgery made shite of the referral too).

@maxkennerly @carl I'm not saying they're right to do this, just that ChatGPT can somehow outperform a bad doctor on autopilot, trying any old shit to make the patient go away.
