And meanwhile something that would have been useful isn't allowed - I booked some seat reservations for SNCF trains from Rail Europe as SNCF would not sell them directly, thought I would add them in my SNCF Connect App because then I have everything for French trains together…

But 🤷‍♂️

The app can read the PNR and Name combination but it is set to not allow the import

@jon Thanks for your recent takedowns of the French rail system and its flaws. I attributed the "bumpiness" of my recent attempts to research connections and do bookings to my limited French.

Apart from a my general confusion, I was startled by the number of times that SNCF.com tried to sell me non-train modes of transportation. 😬

@jon They sell you car-sharing or bus rides with pleasure but they don’t sell the tickets of Trenitalia or Renfe operating in France !!

Of course they don't sell the tickets of their direct competitors — but they should be forced to.
