Mastodon users shared my CPC post (thank you*), as did Bluesky users. There was even traction on LinkedIn. Threads? Not a sausage. Presumably they’re all Oric fans over there or something.
Genuinely. Retro gaming articles do really inconsistent traffic on Stuff, and so the more eyes, the better. I’d like to be doing more pieces like this, but traffic needs to be sufficient to justify it.
Curiously, the C64 equivalent has been doing really well, but we’re not entirely sure why!
@craiggrannell My CPC. didn’t have a tape deck. Had to wire together a cable that went from the headphone jack on parents hifi to a 5 pin DIN in the back of the amstrad.
(And if any CPC fan is all BROWN BROWN BROWN URGH C64 PFFT SPIT SPIT, that’s fine. But the C64 piece doing well is what resulted in the editor giving the OK to the CPC piece, so we could complete the ‘big three’, given that I’d already written up one for the Speccy.)
@craiggrannell I would say I feel sorry for those Beeb owners out there, but their parents were likely loaded, so they’re probably doing alright for themselves.
@Middaparka I had a friend with a Beeb. He kept trying to convince me of the sheer majesty of Repton. And Repton’s not a bad game. But, y’know. Boulder Dash. And all the other stuff I had on the C64 by then.
