@gruber I think it depends of what the viewer wants from the movie going in… if they’re expecting something more mainstream they probably won’t be happy with the experience.
I wouldn’t say the movie was terrible, but there are a number of cringe over-the-top ridiculous moments within it that do bring the rating down somewhat for me.
If a re-edit was done to remove, tone down, or replace some of those scenes I think the movie would fare better with a wider audience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🎬😬
@gruber It’s got a 5.7/10 rating on IMDB and a 72% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, so I think my 3 star rating is in line with the average viewer. I’m just saying the movie could have been better if they had made some changes, but I don’t think it’s all bad.
@gruber the concept really sold the book, but the movie killed all interest. Was it the actors, script, other? I’ll read reviews. So far I haven’t heard or read anything more articulate than ‘avoid’.
I thought at worst it might fall into a Big Fat Greek Wedding Vibe. Spy films and books can have a tongue-in-cheek edge, but they should never be self aware about it.
@gruber Watch Paul Feig’s SPY, starring Melissa McCarty, Jason Stratham, Rose Byrne, and Jude Law. Actually funny!! Hell, even Man From Uncle was better.
@gruber We just watched this last night. I spent the entire time thinking that Justin Hammer got reformed in prison and became a spy. That was the highlight of the movie for me.
