Fun fact about WD-40 (that the space nerd in me cannot retain much longer), it was developed for a specific case of presenting a large body of fin sheet of steel to rust in the open air, in this case the Atlas missile who ended up becoming the workhorse launcher in the early days of the american space program.

Its structure made of a few millimeter thin sheet of steel was only able to withstand the weight of the whole rocket vertically by pressuring it, making the whole thing needing to be bulked up with helium before raising it on the launchpad, and any weak point caused by rusting on the fuselage could make the entire thing collapse.

Thus WD-40 was born, to drench in it this 25 meter flying pressure cooker if death.
