@evcricket unsolicited kettlebell advice if you're up for it (from a former strength and weightlifting coach): a kettlebell upswing doesn't come from your shoulders and back, it comes from your glutes and quads, which should contract explosively and momentum off your quads should drive your arms and the bell up. It's less of an arc and more of a vertical lift.

You use arms, shoulders, and back to control it coming down. Again, it's not a big arc, it's the weight dropping under control through a curve. So don't resist the descent, but just control it.

An arced kettlebell swing using shoulders and back is a fantastic way to get horrible AC joint injury.

Have a look at video of Olympic weightlifters. A kettlebell swing is a bit like the first half of a snatch and the second bit of the clean and jerk.
