I finally finished my initial pack of German made Van Der Hagen safety razors and instead of just buying another pack of one kind I got a huge multipack of many brands. Going to start with a 5 pack of Egyptian made Shark Super Stainless Blades tomorrow. The Van Der Hagens have been pretty great, long lasting (its taken me months to go through a 5 pack), and easy to use, and are easy to find in the midwest. It'll be interesting to see how they compare.

review 2 - Shark Super Stainless blades, made in Egypt, aren't bad, but they are much thinner. They fit in my Van Der Hagens handle, but I think with the extra gap required more inner rinsing of the blade and handle (2-4 instead of 1-2 like the Van Der Hagens), but using their handle would likely work better. The thinness also resulted in faster degradation, by the end of week one side was pretty bumpy. Overall a much cheaper but still usable build.

#3 Astra Superior Platinum, made in India. These were the thickest blade so far and held up pretty well. I needed a similar rinse cycle as the VanDerHagens, but they lasted about a week and half. Downside of the thicker blades is they were a bit harder to do detailing around the nose. Like Shark, simple cardboard packaging. Overall not bad, probably really nice for those with thicker beard hair.

@Neblib cardboard you say? I like the Feather blades but they come wrapped in plastic in a plastic box.

@kemotep I'm not sure of the material wrapping the blades (probably plastic) but the box containing the wrapped blades is cardboard. The Van Der Hagens came similar to how you described the Feather blades. I made sure this grab bag had Feather blades from @Slyence 's recommendation, looking forward to trying them eventually, especially knowing that you like them too.

@Neblib hell yeah. I used the Van Der Hagens since finding out that Gillette Platinums were all from Russia (lots of razor blades are actually). I currently am using Feather blades from Japan. They are quite sharp and keep that edge pretty well. I go through about a blade a week but some brands I could essentially only use once or twice before they got dull.
