So I'm just livid. Yesterday, someone from the DNR contacted me to inquire about our Walk in the Woods for witches & he said, "Cutting down plants and removing them from the woods is illegal." I was like, "What? We aren't doing that."
Now I'm jumping through hoops, sending pamphlets that we're handing out to this guy so he can "approve" our walk in the woods after we've already rented a shelter.

And another thing, why not tell me about the permit on Wednesday when I talked to him? If it is standard, he should have mentioned it then. I think he was just trying to think of ways to get me to back out.
Don't think I'm not marching my witchy butt to the office next week and getting a special permit for the walk in September. He's not going to do this to me again.
I told him I rented the shelter over two months ago, the event was created in early February, sent him all the info he requested on Wednesday, and now on Friday, at 2:30 when there isn't any time for me to get a permit, he says I have to have one.
I told him that was very suspicious.
THEN he said, well, I can give you a pass this time but if you do these walks in the future you will have to get a special permit and perhaps insurance.
Thank you. I'm hoping we can move through this with ease. If not, I'll take it to the press. They loved writing about our market and news crews came out to film and interview us.
I GUARANTEE you if I hadn't have put Witches in front of Walk in the Woods, this wouldn't be happening.
We have hosted this event there, led by me, for 2 years with this group, and I've hosted it since 2009 with other groups. Twice a year. Now, we did our market back in November and made the news so people have been in an uproar about witches bring demons into the city and here we are......
People reporting us for crap we've never done nor would do.
Thank you. Me, too. I'm so angry right now. Any witch who knows me knows I continuously right and speak out about defiling the Earth and taking things just for the sake of owning or to possess. It feels like an assault on my character (which I know this guy doesn't know me but it still hurts like that).
@KentuckyConjurer I can definitely understand why. I hope this guy sees reason. You'd think he'd want events like this because it helps educate folks about local plant life and about ethical ways of being in the woods. This is a great thing and if more people learned about it, the world might not be so fucked up.
@KentuckyConjurer Yeah I can see that, It's like would you be having the same discussion with a youth group leader from the Assemblies of God? Some how I think not... and then the injustice of it all just raises your blood pressure. I feel like this a lot when people tell me I can't or should do or not do stuff bc of my disabilities but they try and make it seem like it's for other reasons and it just steams my Cheetos so damned bad.
I'm sorry you have to deal with people acting like that, too. This whole policing other people's business just feels like it doesn't let up. The same people who don't want anyone to tell them what to do sure love telling everybody else what is and isn't acceptable.
