Kids today may not understand that there was an age in America where Cracker Jack and sundry breakfast cereals came with toys INSIDE the box of shelf-stable food AND that we were almost universally disappointed at what those toys, which were, for emphasis, inside a box of shelf-stable food, turned out to be because we expected so much more of toys packaged in food.

Do whatever generational psychoanalysis of this you choose to. It is totally fair game and I welcome the discourse.

@GrimmReality How often were those toys just stupid temporary tattoos? That was always the biggest disappointment and I carry my grudge decades on.

@PatrickoftheG The epoch discussed, while not stipulated in the OP, was definitely pre-temporary-tattoos, and, I don't know, I think maybe I would've dug those as an option.
