What is your favorite depression food? Or low-spoons food? Or autistic comfort food? Also has to be cheap 😓

I need ideas. I have a lot of food allergies so I'm really restricted but that doesn't mean hearing about other food doesn't give me ideas.

It just hits every note exactly right.

@MsHearthWitch @dyani I have yet to find something that works as a healthier hot dog substitute.

We use a lactose-free cheese, but vegan cheeses can also work really well.

I’ve tried soy and almond milks and they were no-gos big time. I haven’t tried oat milk yet. (Rice milk is way too thin)

@dhampirdamsel @dyani Yeah it's the mac and cheese part that I can't find anything that is as fast and easy and still tastes right. I don't at all care about healthier, lmao.

I just can't have dairy anymore.

This convo inspired me and I'm trying a Quinoa boxed vegan mac and cheese in this week's grocery order.

@dyani Something really quick, easy, and cheap is porridge or similar kinds of boiled grain. Just bring milk or water or broth to a boil, add grain of choice (rice, millet, oats, semolina, corn...) and some honey or herbs to taste and let it sit for a moment. Done. Filling and tasty. Fairly healthy.
For something more indulgent, I get a bag of frozen bami goreng (not cheap).

@dyani Pre-allergies: mac and cheese with hot dogs sliced into it.

Now? Probably a PB and banana sandwich on toast. Or a bowl of cereal. Ramen also. Nachos with vegan cheese and salsa.

Low spoon meals - Prolly, pad thai? or Oyakodon. Both are cheap and fairly low spoon to make.

@dyani I have a really bad habit of remembering things that I like. Stuff like food or hobbies or games. Anything I enjoy it's like I just forget. I think it's an AuDHD object permanence thing.
