The editor of the Times wants us to know that the most important thing he can do to uphold democracy is not take any sides on the question of who intends to end democracy.
And the condescending "We'd be open to it" response to a question about hiring more from state schools and not relying on the Ivy League -- that speaks volumes about the Times as well.

I noticed so long ago that NYTs seemed so bourgeois in their cultural reporting. Their political reporting used to be good but in 2016 they got on the vile Trump train and demonized Clinton. When they actually posted a headline that said "FBI sees no clear link to Russia" I was like FUCK YOU! We "russiaphobes" were proven correct. Russian sabotaged the election and installed their puppet as POTUS. 400,000 dead Americans are the result of NYTs disgusting coverage.
@dangillmor IMO, this is the paragraph right here that tells the tale. This is where he basically says that he thinks Trump is going to win the election. If I were a weasel (like Mr Kahn), I wouldn't do anything to get on Trump's enemies list, either.

@dangillmor JFC What absolute horseshit - we don't want to be Pravda??? Nobody was asking them for bias towards Biden - call him out if you can! We're asking them to hand Trump's ass to him for all the shit he does. It's not about Biden! It's about their reporting on Trump. If you are on the morning newsdesk and you rank your zillionth 'Biden is old' story more newsworthy than the daily torrent of shit from that asshole you are showing supplicant bias for Trump.

His perspective of a white, heteronormative man places him at the top of society’s pecking order. He can conduct this interview safely ensconced in the theoretical buffer his privilege affords. Democracy is a hypothetical to him. Yes, he claims to represent the Fourth Estate, and defends his paper as a bulwark, but he’s absolutely aware of his ability to put the thumb on the scale of public opinion.
