@HilliTech They may be suffering from exactly what mastodon.social suffered from in the early days of Nov 202x when the "huge influx" happened... ie: They may not be dedicating enough horsepower to it...

OR shocker their code/reference implementation may just suck... 🤷‍♂️

@HilliTech I also wonder if Threads is intentionally suppressing Apple content due to Zuckerberg’s (self-inflicted) beef with Apple.

@lorenac nah, it's a time delay on all Threads posts. On purpose to prevent deleted posts from being sent to Mastodon anyway.

@HilliTech @lorenac Doesn't the reference implementation handle for that? ie: I know I've had posts deleted from my TL when they're deleted from - say - a thread owned by you on Mastodon...

Seems like they went for the time-out rather than the full implementation...

@HilliTech @jann @lorenac Just jumping in to say this is totally correct. Threads waits 5 minutes to post to ActivityPub, presumably since they don’t federate edits over to AP yet, so they wait for the post to be locked in on Threads.

Any delays beyond that 5 minutes are weird though.
