Stack Overflow users sabotage their posts after OpenAI deal

Anti-AI users who change or delete answers in protest are being punished.

@arstechnica oh 😳 I've blocked in my router years ago, such a sad story, destroying another "community driven" platform

@arstechnica clamping down on objectors is such a Streisand effect move. People willing to take the effort to remove their posts are probably a tiny group, but spiking them only makes their protest more potent

@arstechnica

your social output will be fodder for enshittified plastic content generator

submission is compulsory

uggh

all these poor stack overflow users joined in when it was the sheer pleasure of exchanging knowledge

and now they are grist to feed a machine

what a world

@benroyce @arstechnica That's wikipedia.

(the difference being the capitalist middle men appropriating the content you made to make money with it, but it was the «deal» from the start.)

@webshinra @arstechnica with Wikipedia the deal has always been that it is free and open, and everyone who contributes to it is aware of that. If Wikimedia Foundation provides an API for LLM that money goes back into the nonprofit foundation which supports Wikipedia, not buying gold toilets. better deal than if the AI ghouls are screenscraping

Stack Overflow is monetizing user content as a bait and switch on the users for profit generation

Your comparison is bogus
