I just read the top line of an unsolicited sales email sent via LinkedIn, “Hey Kat, let’s cut through the bs and get right to the point…”

That’s all I read before blocking and deleting.

Free marketing advice: Don’t make assumptions about your recipient’s sense of humor, especially in a sales email.

I wrote a sales letter for a national recruiting agency 20 years ago that they still use today. It opens with, “Your top competitor [brand name] just hired us.” Only used when true, but it works!
