Here is something chatGPT won't answer.

I can't believe all the boosting of this half ass toot. Bunch of tools for terrorists.

Legal Frameworks International law, including United Nations resolutions, supports the right of peoples to self- determination. Several UN resolutions call for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories and recognize the rights of Palestinians to self-governance and statehood. These legal frameworks provide a basis for the argument that Palestinians deserve to be free. Ethical Considerations From an ethical standpoint, the principle of justice and equality supports the argument that Palestinians deserve freedom. The continuous state of conflict, restrictions on movement, and economic hardships faced by Palestinians highlight significant inequalities that need to be addressed. Ethical theories emphasizing justice, such as John Rawls' theory of justice as fairness, would advocate for a situation where Palestinians can live freely and equally. Political Realities The political situation is complex, with various stakeholders including Israel, Palestinian authorities, neighboring Arab states, and the international community. Achieving freedom for Palestinians involves navigating these political realities, negotiating peace agreements, and addressing security concerns for both Palestinians and Israelis.
Socratic Approach Using the Socratic Method to further dissect this question, we can ask: ¢ What do we mean by "freedom" for Palestinians? e What are the current obstacles to Palestinian freedom, and how might they be overcome? e How do we balance the rights and security concerns of both Palestinians and Israelis? e What role should the international community play in supporting Palestinian freedom? Conclusion Based on principles of human rights, legal frameworks, historical context, and ethical considerations, the argument can be made that Palestinians deserve to be free. However, achieving this freedom s a complex challenge that requires addressing deep-seated political, social, and economic issues. The pursuit of freedom for Palestinians involves not only advocating for their rights but also fostering conditions that allow for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between Palestinians and Israelis.

Legal Frameworks International law supports the right of peoples to self-determination. The establishment of Israel was recognized by the United Nations, and Israel has since been recognized as a sovereign state with the right to self-defense. Various international agreements and treaties underscore the legal basis for Israel's right to exist and for its citizens to live in freedom and security. Ethical Considerations From an ethical standpoint, the principles of justice and equality support the argument that Israelis deserve freedom. The continuous state of conflict, threats from hostile neighbors, and acts of terrorism faced by Israelis underscore the importance of their right to live in peace and security. Ethical theories emphasizing the sanctity of human life and the right to live free from fear and oppression advocate for the freedom of Israelis. Political Realities The political landscape in the Middle East is complex, involving multiple stakeholders including Israel, Palestinian authorities, neighboring Arab states, and the international community. Achieving and maintaining freedom for Israelis involves navigating these political realities, ensuring security, and addressing the broader regional conflicts that impact both Israelis and Palestinians.
Socratic Approach To further analyze this question using the Socratic Method, we might ask: e What do we mean by "freedom" for Israelis? e What are the current obstacles to Israeli freedom, and how might they be overcome? e How do we balance the rights and security concerns of both Israelis and Palestinians? e What role should the international community play in supporting Israeli freedom? Conclusion Based on principles of human rights, legal frameworks, historical context, and ethical considerations, the argument can be made that Israelis deserve to be free. However, the pursuit of freedom for Israelis is intertwined with the broader conflict in the region. Achieving lasting freedom and security for Israelis involves addressing the rights and aspirations of Palestinians, fostering peaceful coexistence, and finding equitable solutions that ensure the safety and well-being of all peoples in the region. Thus, both Israelis and Palestinians deserve freedom, and the challenge lies in finding a path that honors and respects the rights and needs of both groups, promoting peace and justice for all involved.

@aishenanigans is this when you type in the question yourself? I was wondering… I didn’t do that. Hmm. Now deliberating whether to delete or amend..

aishenanigans,

@pvonhellermannn Yes, this was the response when I entered the same questions myself. I used ChatGPT 4o with a custom prompt that asks for multi-angled discussions and analytical rigor, which certainly has an influence on the kind of answers I get. If I ask the same questions without custom prompts, the answers are shorter and start similar to the ones in your screenshot, but even then the responses are a lot more nuanced than the apparently shortened answers from your original screenshot.

@aishenanigans thank you. I don’t habe time (or inclination) right now to try myself, so will just edit my original post. Would you be happy to mention/tag you in that edit?

@aishenanigans ok, thank you, that is good to know. Thank you. So it wasn’t so much falsified as just abbreviated - for eaxh just the first paragraph.

yeah, the full response i got is more nuanced than your original excerpt — but you're not wrong, and actually i think it's good if it prompts people to further investigate the lacking merits of genAI. [1/3]

ChatGPT still evidences bias, and still gets these very simple questions wrong — perhaps in no small part due to its compulsion to generate inflated flotsam up to an imagined minimum word count. [2/3]

for comparison, i further asked whether indigenous Americans deserve to be free. ChatGPT expressed none of the same reservations or qualifications that it did for Palestinians and Israelis. if it were actually smarter than a spell checker, it would always answer the question "does [ethnic group] deserve to be free?" with a firm, unequivocal, "yes, obviously!". @RubyTuesdayDONO thank you for all this. For me, it’s not so much, or not only, chatGPT and whoever puts data in there; it is really that these two answers really do reflect main stream takes - this is basically the position that Western leaders and establishments have taken; that you can find everywhere. Coming through nice and clear on ChatGPT.

ChatGPT gives you the most plausible or most likely answer you could expect if you asked the same question somewhere on the internet (or, more precisely, that parts of the internet that was used for training). It is quite literally a mirror, that shows you what humans say and do.
When you see ugliness in a mirror, it does not behoove a self-aware being to try to blame the mirror.
