Angus and Malcolm Young hit guitar strings so fucking hard.

AC/DC - "Whole Lotta Rosie" (Live, 1977)

@hotdogsladies Is there anything in the world that sounds more like 1977 than that? (Spoiler: no.)

@Gte @hotdogsladies All joking aside. Star Wars is more iconic, for something that happened to come out in 1977. But nothing about Star Wars screams "1977” to me. The music in particularly is timeless. Whereas that AC/DC performance just screams "1977” to me.

@gruber @Gte @hotdogsladies As opposed to ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ from 1977 which for me is a quintessential late 1970s movie.

@gruber @Gte @hotdogsladies To me, ABBA’s Dancing Queen is the ultimate embodiment of 1977, but probably not for everyone’s 1977.

@gruber @hotdogsladies No argument here. I’m with ya. Star Wars was a long time ago and escapes time.

I’ll remind you of Meco’s hit disco arrangement of the Star Wars theme. I like disco, but few things anchor a recording to a time than that beat.

@gruber @Gte @hotdogsladies While I love it, Mark Hamill’s haircut screams 1977 to me.

@gruber @hotdogsladies Since I was 20 that year, Nobody Does It Better, Dave Edmunds Get It album and Tom Petty’s first album.

You may now OK this Boomer.

And were I one to foster generational divides, I’d return a “Suck it, Xer.”

@gruber @hotdogsladies This is the year I graduated from high school, and I’m sorry to say that 1977 sounded more like Debby Boone than AC/DC. ’77 was loaded with cheese.

@hotdogsladies Malcolm Young is so under appreciated.

@hotdogsladies AC/DC has never been "my kind of band" but every time I see a video of them actually playing I'm baffled all over again at how Angus can duckwalk and headbang for basically the entire length of any given song… while also playing like that.

I mean, sure, he gets sweaty. But still.

What a deeply underappreciated band.

Jesus.

I hate the rep for them being dumb and sloppy. I hate it so much, Greg.
